For Ida

"I'll see you on the high ground."

by Captain Joe Hansen in honor of SFC Jared Monti

Sergeant Monti was a American Soldier, he was a leader of men and he was my brother. He was that which makes us salute when we see our Nation's flag,.. and cry when we remember. It is men such as this that shrouds us with our freedom at home and provides us our armor in battle. It is men such as this that we pause and sigh in the half light of our lives and wish it were otherwise. It is men such as Sergeant First Class Jared Monti that makes me proud to be an American Soldier. It has been my greatest privilege and my honor to serve alongside you Monti.   "I'll see you on the high ground."

AAP MISSION STATEMENT

The AdoptaPlatoon Soldier Support Effort™ founded in 1998 is a nonprofit 501C-3 organization managed nationwide by volunteer mothers to ensure that deployed United States Service members in all branches of the military are not forgotten by providing needed mail support and to promote patriotism in our schools and communities. To provide a better deployment quality of life, lift morale, and assist military families, the AAP created projects that meet the need of military requests, established special projects for holidays, and assigns individual morale lifting mail support to service members of all branches of the U.S. military serving their Nation around the world.

Pray for our Fallen Heroes

We weep that the flower of our youth lie in gardens of stone, sown there to
preserve the lives of other humanity and to protect those of us whom they
love. May our Heavenly Father smile upon them and say "Well done, thou good
and faithful servant. Enter into the rest of the Lord, thy God."
It is incumbent upon us to honor their memory by our devotion, and to assure
they did not die in vain. So help us God.

“Shake & Bake”  Paratroopers in Adhamiyah use brains over brawn

BAGHDAD – Staff Sgt. Darin Morgan’s platoon had just snatched a suspected insurgent off the streets. They had done it without Apache gun ships hovering overhead and without Stryker vehicles blocking the roads. They did it without blowing open any doors or damaging any property. And they did it without firing a single shot..READ MORE

Adopt a Platoon’ Still Thrives After 10 Years

By Jamie Findlater
Special to American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, April 28, 2008 – Ida Hagg knows all about care packages; in fact, after 10 years of sending them out, she's pretty much an expert.

"The troops appreciate beef jerky, sunflower seeds, movies, DVDs,” she said. “In the outlying areas, they appreciate receiving baby wipes and socks and hygiene products -- and all this is topped off with tons of cookies."

Hagg first realized the importance of care packages when her own son was deployed to the Balkans, she explained during an “ASY Live” BlogTalkRadio interview. The online radio program is an extension of the Defense Department’s America Supports You program, which connects citizens and companies with servicemembers and their families serving at home or abroad..READ MORE
